During someones life they will eventually experience regret at some point in there life. Regret often comes from feelings of grief, loneliness, and depression. It can also cause feelings of unnecessary emotions. In the book I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson Jude regrets her brothers dramatic change in life and feels as if it is her fault of why he changed so dramatically. before Noah changed he was an amazing artist, he was weird, and he liked boys. But now he has become a totally different person. The statement that I'm trying to make is that regret is an unnecessary thing in life.
In the book there is an art school called CSA. Before Noah's change he and Jude's mother wanted them to get into CSA, but mostly she wanted Noah to succeed. Overall Noah was a better artist than Jude which is why she wanted Noah to get into CSA. But somehow Jude gets into CSA instead of Noah. Jude frequently had thoughts that she didn't belong here and that Noah surely did. Because of Jude getting into CSA and not Noah he goes through a dramatic change. He stops liking boys, he goes from an outsider to a popular kid and Jude blames herself. She wants the old Noah back. (spoiler alert) after there mom dies she "haunts" Jude by breaking and ruining her artwork. The mother's ghost does this because she wanted mostly Noah to get into CSA and not Jude. Jude mostly felt regret and thought that she could never survive here and that Noah should definitely be here.
When people die in your life you might often think that you didn't appreciate them as much as you should have. Or that you were the cause of why they died. But you don't need these feelings they only make your life more difficult and worse. Regrets are nothing but wasted thoughts.
